Raw Acai Porridge

Are you getting a little bit over the traditional acai bowls? Every cafe here in Sydney at least whips up their own. Well, if you want to change things a little bit I've got just the recipe for you.

Think acai bowl - but as a porridge - but not as any porridge - think acai bowl as a raw porridge. Wait what?

Oh. You guys, if you haven't had raw porridge before you should get on it right now. It's an absolutely amazing combination of porridge and a smoothie. Or that's pretty much how I'd describe this dish.

This is what the final result of my raw acai porridge looks like. It's so smooth in your mouth and incredibly satisfying. I could have this porridge of clouds every morning. 

You can easily change the flavours as well - just use the oat + buckwheat groats + coconut as a base and then you can let your imagination be the limit.

Anyways, let's go on with the recipe, shall we?


  • Start by soaking the oats and buckwheat groats overnight in 2 cups of coconut milk.
  • In the morning add the soaked grains to a blender together with the other ingredients. Pour in the rest of the coconut milk and blend.
  • The porridge is done once it's all smooth with no lumps.

I topped my bowl with blueberries, pomegranate seeds, strawberries, coconut flakes, cacao nibs and dried raspberries. It's a winning topping combo for sure.
